Families Get to Learn, Listen and Munch with Students

Parents packed the hallways and classrooms of Cedar Trails Elementary School recently, as kindergarten students invited their families for a day to see what they were learning.

Parents and other relatives sat in on instructional workshops on reading, writing and math. They also were treated to a student musical performance before concluding with cookies and presents.Nick Robinson was proud to host a visit by his grandmother, Karen Robinson

“I love it,” said Karen Robinson, who visited her grandson Nick. “I was surprised by how independent they were with their activities, and with their 20 minutes of reading alone time. For a 5-year-old to read that long, it’s amazing.”

“It’s been great, seeing the kids up there singing,” said Jeff Cooper, munching on cookies with his daughter, Paige Metzger. “Just hanging out together, it’s pretty awesome.”
