Superintendent Candidates Down to Two

The Godfrey-Lee Board of Education has selected the following candidates as finalists for superintendent: Kevin Polston, principal at Grand Haven Lakeshore Middle School; and Michael Pascoe, principal at Grand Rapids City High/Middle School and Center for Economicology.

Final round interviews are scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, in the Godfrey-Lee Administration Building, 1324 Burton Street SW. Interviews are open to the public.

The final candidates were narrowed from a pool of 30, with four, including Pascoe and Polston, interviewing last week. Current Superintendent David Britten will retire on June 30. Pending the results of the search and contract negotiations, the new superintendent will start on July 1, said Board President Eric Mockerman.

This is the second attempt to fill the position after Carlos Lopez, director of curriculum, instruction and assessment in Plymouth-Canton Community Schools, in Plymouth, declined an offer from the Godfrey-Lee school board last month.
