Byron Center Football Player Kicking to Fight Cancer

Byron Center High School senior Hunter DeWindt is well on his way to raising his goal of $3,000 for children’s cancer research through football.

The Bulldogs varsity kicker is taking pledges for every point he tallies at this season’s games. Hunter is teaming up with Kick-It, a national organization that raises money for children’s cancer research. Hunter, whose grandfather was diagnosed with cancer, learned of the program during a kicking camp last summer.

Hunter has already raised more than $1,100. People can make a pledge for every point Hunter scores, or can make a one time donation. As of Oct. 03, Hunter had scored more than 30 points.

People can pledge per kick by e-mailing kickitwithhunter@gmail.com or make a one-time donation at http://www.kick-it.org/games/2014/08/byron-center-kicker-challenge-with-hunter.
