Drama Club “Space Aliens” Teach Etiquette, Theater Basics

Aliens made a surprise appearance in the Pine Island Elementary media center recently.

The youngsters from a galaxy far, far away soon made friends with human Comstock Park Public Schools elementary students, who taught them the ways of planet Earth by handing them a cell phone.

“All I needed was to touch that device and all your language and culture was transmitted,” said one of the aliens, played by fifth-grade student Ally Lewis.

The students were rehearsing for a performance to culminate Stage Stars Drama Club, an after-school enrichment program during which they learned the basics of theater, from proper stage voices to props and etiquette this semester. The program is offered through the company Afterschool Enrichment Solutions.

Third-grader Isaiah Ramirez learned what good casting means. He played a museum guide. “I think it’s good for me to be the guide. I act a certain way when I perform,” he said.
