Motor City Nostalgia Takes 'Best of Show'by Charles Honey
Rockford High School senior Kelli LeSarge made her school proud – and won a $500 scholarship for herself – with her award-winning poster at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Kelli's poster of a snazzy classic convertible was named Designer's Best of Show in the Traditional Category, in the 28th annual poster contest held in conjunction with the Jan. 16-24 Auto Show at Cobo Center.
She was one of 15 students who received awards among 707 entries from 53 schools. Kelli was the first Rockford High student to win the contest since 2005, in the first art competition she had entered other than the Regional Scholastic Art Contest. "I am honored that they chose my art work and I'm excited to go to the show," she said prior to the event.
