Students from all three Northview elementary schools got to hear stories in song form thanks to Emily Arrow, a singer/songwriter from Nashville, Tennessee who creates songs from well-loved children’s books.
The nationally known artist performed three daytime concerts aimed at fostering a love of reading and music, and filmed the performances for a documentary she is making.
A former elementary music teacher and graduate of Berklee College of Music, Arrow just released her second album, “Storytime Singalong, Vol. 2.”
The ukulele-playing artist/educator has won the John Lennon Songwriting Contest for “The Curious Garden Song,” inspired by Peter Brown’s book.
She shared many of her story-songs with students from East, North and West Oakview elementary schools at the Northview High School Performing Arts Center, as well as an evening concert for the community.
