Athlete, Goat Farmer, ‘Chill’ Encourager

Meet Your Principal: Lyndsey Fischer

School: Thornapple Kellogg Middle

Other positions you have held in education: Health/PE teacher for 12 years. My first year was at Grand Rapids Public Schools, and every year since has been at TK High School.

Spouse/children:
I am married to Nathan Fischer, a second-grade teacher at Lee Elementary. We have two daughters, Ella, fourth grade; and Olivia, second grade.

Hobbies/Interests: I love to do anything outside, go running and just be with my family. We enjoy traveling and our small “farm” of chickens and goats.

What kind of kid were you at the age of students at this new school? I was into athletics, especially basketball and volleyball. I loved being involved and active in the school.

The biggest lesson you have learned from students is… Just chill! Sometimes we get caught up in the world and often do not just relax.

Finish this sentence: If I could go back to school I would go to … second grade. I loved my teacher and it just seemed like such a carefree time.
