Privacy Policy for SchoolNewsNetwork.org

This privacy notice discloses the privacy practices for schoolnewsnetwork.org. This privacy notice applies solely to the information collected by this news site. It has been compiled to better serve those who are concerned with how their “Personally Identified Information” (PIL) may be used online. PIL, as described in US privacy law and information security, is information that can be used on its own or with other information to identify, contact or locate a single person. The only personal information we may collect is your email address IF you subscribe to our Weekly Headlines or choose to provide comments. The Weekly Headlines operate through the provider Mailchimp. Mailchimp does not share addresses (and neither do we) and their business model is built on that standard.

We are the sole owners of the information collected on this site. We only have access to/collect the email addresses you provide. We will not sell, share, or rent this information to anyone — period.

We will only use your email address to include you in the Headlines subscription and to offer our Reader Survey to you annually. Rarely, we may notify you of new developments or important news about SNN through your email.

Security

We take precautions to protect your information both online and offline. Many websites are now “secure sites,” including SNN. You can verify this by looking for a lock icon in the address bar and looking for “https” at the beginning of the address of the web page.

We also protect your information offline. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (list updating, for example) are granted access to your emails. The computers/servers in which we store this information are kept in a secure environment.

Cookies and Similar Technology

You should be aware that other, non-personal information and data may be automatically collected on School News Network through the use of cookies, web beacons and other similar technologies. The data collected through the use of such technologies does not contain personal information. We may also use such technologies to help us offer you more relevant information similar to articles you’ve read, or to help improve our content and site performance.

Our third-party services such as our sponsors and affiliates may also use these types of technologies to manage or measure the performance of their information displayed or delivered over School News Network. Again, none of this is personally identifiable information.
