Students Salute Veterans with Song and Word

Ezequiel Gonzales salutes the flag

November is the month to be grateful for veterans and for what we have. Murray Lake Elementary fifth-graders celebrated both with a “We Are Thankful for Our Veterans” musical.

They sang patriotic songs from “You’re a Grand Old Flag” to “America the Beautiful,” accompanied by music teacher Andrew Allmon on the ukulele. Historical readings were delivered by students for the veterans who attended, along with parents and fellow students.

And Natalie VanLaan sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” — one of the more notoriously difficult songs to sing — and made it look easy.
