District launches new parent portal

The student information system Synergy will enable parents to check their child’s progress

Kelloggsville — “Would you like to sign up for the parent portal?” was a question many families were asked this year at the district’s annual Rocket Registration event.

Over the spring and summer, staff worked to switch the student database to its new student information system, Synergy, said Cassie Groters,  Kelloggsville network technician and head of marketing and communications.

Synergy provides student information through online web portals as well as mobile apps. The district’s technology team and students from the high school’s National Honor Society helped parents sign up for the ParentVue app. StudentVue accounts will be ready for students on the first day of school.

Through a single sign-on, Synergy allows access to all children associated with that parent or guardian, across the district, in any grade or school.

“Through the program, parents will be able to view student schedules, grades, attendance, and other parts related to their student’s educational journey,” Groters said, adding that a future goal is to make registration easier for parents as well.

“I love it,” said Robin Marihugh, who has two students at Kelloggsville High School. “It is so helpful to be able to look at their grades and talk to my son about missing assignments or that this grade is so close to jumping up to a B, let’s make that push.”

Having used a similar program in another school district, parent Tanya Cann, who has a Kelloggsville second grader, agreed that having access to her student’s grades made it easier to help and connect with teachers.

Those unable to attend Rocket Registration, may still sign up for the ParentVue portal. Visit https://kvilleps.org/parents/enroll for more information.
