Career day all about discovering future opportunities

Mill Creek Middle School hosted a career day for students this spring, with more than 40 organizations attending

Comstock Park — What are your interests? What careers fit with those interests? Students considered those questions in preparation for Mill Creek Middle School’s recent career day.

The event connected students with professionals from about 40 different organizations representing such career fields as law enforcement, mental health, farming, construction, music and government.

In preparation for the event, students used the college and career readiness program Naviance, said school counselor Melissa Vader. Students researched and prepared questions for careers they might be interested in and then went from booth-to-booth talking to those working in the field, Vader said.

Our videographer, Brett Atwood, was on hand to capture all the interaction between students and professionals.
