Kent ISD — The West Michigan Teacher Collaborative announced it will open applications for two of its programs May 29.
WMTC, a partnership among Kent, Ottawa and Muskegon ISDs and Grand Valley State University, provides a pathway for those with some college credits or any bachelor’s degree to become certified teachers, and for current teachers to earn endorsements and advanced degrees.
The two programs accepting applications are:
- Those with a bachelor’s degree who are looking to switch to a teaching career by earning a teaching certification;
- Current educators seeking additional credentials through advanced degrees.
Both programs are tuition-free, with books and fees covered by WMTC. Some may be eligible for stipends of up to $20,000.
WMTC is funded by a $19 million Future Proud Michigan Educator Grow Your Own Programs for School Staff Grant, the State Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity and a $9 million appropriation in the state budget.
