District expands leadership team

Forest Hills —  Forest Hills Public Schools has added to its administrative team for the 2025-26 school year with three new members.

Thomas Hosford, who took over the role of assistant superintendent of human resources, comes from Rockford Public Schools where he served as principal of the high school, Freshman Center and Crestwood Elementary School, and as assistant principal at the middle and high schools.

Hosford is a doctoral candidate at Western Michigan University, and has a master’s degree in education leadership and a bachelor’s in physical education from Grand Valley State University. He also is a certified human resources professional from the Society for Human Resource Management and has extensive Title IX and Civil Rights training.

The district’s new director of student services is Sarah Dawson, who comes from Portland Public Schools, where she served as director of special education.

In her new role at Forest Hills, Dawson oversees special education and student support services. She has experience in multi-tiered systems of support initiatives, positive behavioral interventions and supports, and supporting students with diverse needs.

“What drew me to this district is its strong reputation for excellence, a welcoming and supportive community and a clear commitment to its vision of all learners achieving individual potential,” Dawson said. “That vision deeply resonates with me and aligns with my own: supporting all students; empowering all educators.”

Dawson has an education specialist degree in special education administration and supervision from Eastern Michigan University. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Central Michigan University and a master’s degree in special education from Michigan State University.

Taking over as principal at Orchard View Elementary is Roselyn Charles-Maher, who recently served as principal of Grand Rapids’ Sibley Elementary School. She has a bachelor’s in English with a minor in Spanish from Grand Valley State University and a master’s in teaching from Aquinas College. She also received the Fulbright Global Leaders Award in Germany in 2023.
