Caledonia — Dressed in animal onesies and colorful costumes, 140 students and teachers took the plunge into 40-degree water in February for a good cause.
Duncan Lake Middle School hosted its first Cool School Polar Plunge alongside Kraft Meadows Intermediate’s Peer to Peer program. Together, the schools raised $19,577 to support Special Olympics and the district’s Unified Sports programs, surpassing their original goal of $10,000.
Family and fans bundled up and gathered around the “Plungester” filled with cold water to cheer on the brave and offer towels and dry clothes afterward.
Polar Plunge is a fundraising opportunity exclusively for Unified Champion Schools to come together and support inclusivity and acceptance in school sports, regardless of abilities.
