Grandville BOE to interview one for superintendent job

Grandville — The Grandville Board of Education has selected one candidate to interview for the open position of superintendent.

The board will interview John Philo, the district’s assistant superintendent of human resources, at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, at the Grandville Public Schools Board Room, 3839 Prairie St. NW.

District staff, parents and community members are all invited to attend the interview. Time will be provided afterward to offer feedback to the board.

Philo has served in his current role since summer 2018. He previously worked in the district as a science teacher, assistant principal, Grandville Middle School principal and Grandville High School principal. He also has 20 years of experience as an ice hockey official with the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

The district’s new superintendent is expected to assume the position July 1, taking over for Superintendent Roger Bearup, who announced his retirement in January.
