Reading resources at the ready on literacy night

Caledonia — Caledonia Community Schools is partnering with Kent District Library to host a free elementary literacy night on Thursday, March 7.

From 6 to 7:30 p.m., families are invited to visit KDL’s Caledonia branch to celebrate March is Reading Month and connect with the library’s elementary learning resources.

There will be surprise guest readers, a scavenger hunt using clues based on book characters, a make-and-take station and a spot where students can get their own library cards.

Families can also take home KDL’s Mission: READ bags filled with different activities for each grade focused on phonics, fluency, comprehension and vocabulary.

District literacy instruction coach Renne Rosenberg said the event will be an opportunity to get together and empower families with reading resources.
