Tuning, tempo and treble clef: Teen musicians leading the way for younger counterparts

Caledonia — Caledonia High School orchestra students are passing the baton to younger string players through the new orchestra leadership program. The high-school volunteers attend the middle school’s concerts to help the younger students tune the instruments, put rosin on bows and monitor backstage while the teachers are conducting on stage. This year, the high-schoolers also started visiting Duncan Lake once a month to play with the eighth-grade ensemble, who will soon have the opportunity to continue playing in the high-school orchestra.

SNN’s videographer visited Duncan Lake Middle School to witness their orchestra students make music alongside the high-school musicians.
