Education Everywhere — Educators are invited to teach their students about the insect world at John Ball Zoo this fall.
The Pollinators interactive exhibit highlights the butterflies, bees and beetles that ensure that plants, flowers and crops survive and thrive. More than 20 larger-than-life animatronic pollinators are on display throughout the zoo through Nov. 23. Included in the displays is the rare Poweshiek skipperling butterfly, which the John Ball Zoo has been rearing and breeding in an effort with Michigan State University to repopulate in the Midwest.
Kent County K-12 student groups get in free to the zoo through a 2017 millage. Teachers and schools should book their tour soon for this limited-time exhibit. The zoo has also created free online resources that include scavenger hunts and learning activities.
The Pollinators exhibit is included with paid admission to the zoo for anyone from outside of Kent County or not on a field trip.
