Education Everywhere — A local production featuring several students from Grand Rapids area schools will be performing at the Grand Rapids Public Museum in November.
Polkadots: The Cool Kids Musical will have two shows: at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14 and 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15. Tickets are $5 for kids and $10 for adults. Tickets are available here.
The musical follows 8-year-old Lily Polkadot, who just moved to the “Squares Only” town of Rockaway. Her polkadot skin makes it hard for her to be accepted at her new school. Play producers say the production was inspired by civil rights pioneers like Ruby Bridges and The Little Rock Nine and highlights that our differences “make us awesome, not outcasts.”
The musical is produced by Ebony Road Players, founded by Edye Evans Hyde, a former Grand Rapids teacher and award-winning musician.
