Kelloggsville Rocket Marching Band to represent Michigan in national parade

See the moment Band Director Troy Anderson announces the band’s nomination for the National Memorial Day Parade

Kelloggsville — The Kelloggsville High School Rocket Marching Band will perform in the National Memorial Day Parade, the only Michigan band nominated by Rep. Hillary Scholten for the May 25 event.

“The Kelloggsville Rocket Marching Band is honored to accept the nomination from Congresswoman Hillary Scholten to perform in the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, D.C., and we look forward to representing the Kelloggsville community and the state of Michigan,” said Troy Anderson, the band director.

About 50 students, along with chaperones, will attend the event. Anderson said students will audition for the opportunity to participate.

The parade invitation follows a successful competition season for the band, which included earning first place and all caption awards at the Kenowa Hills Night Time Classic Competition, two second-place finishes at the Jenison and Rockford competitions, and achieving its goal of scoring 85 or higher at the Marching Band Festival at East Kentwood High School.
