This week: public input sought on superintendent search

Kenowa Hills — The district is looking for input from all its stakeholders on the qualities, characteristics, background and experiences desired for the next superintendent.

Staff, students, families and community members can participate through Sunday, Feb. 22. in a three-question online survey. A full, tentative search timeline can be found on the district’s website.

Focus groups for different stakeholders will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 17 and Thursday, Feb. 19 throughout the district. For specific times and locations, visit the superintendent search page on the district’s website.

All groups are similarly structured, so individuals can attend the group that best fits their schedule if needed.

Superintendent Jerry Hopkins announced his decision last month to retire at the end of the 2025-26 school year, after 15 years leading the district.

The Board of Education has enlisted the Michigan Leadership Institute to assist their search efforts and is planning for a new superintendent to begin on July 1.For questions and more information, contact Julie Lanka, executive assistant to the superintendent, by email at jlanka@khps.org.
