Community input sought by Feb. 26 in superintendent search

Grandville — The Grandville Public Schools Board of Education is requesting input from families, district staff and community members as it seeks to identify the district’s next superintendent.

An online survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete; the deadline to provide input is Thursday, Feb. 26. All responses are anonymous and will be compiled and given to the board for review; consolidated results from all returned surveys will be reported publicly.

The board last week approved a timeline for the superintendent search process, which includes an opportunity for the community to weigh in on the qualities, experiences and skills they’d like to see in the new superintendent.

As part of the approved search timeline, the board will accept candidate applications through 4 p.m. on March 9 and anticipates holding interviews on March 18.

Last month, Superintendent Roger Bearup announced his intent to retire June 30, after 11 years in Grandville and 37 years in public education. The new superintendent is expected to assume the position on July 1.

Grandville’s board is working with the Michigan Association of School Boards to conduct the search. Questions regarding the process should be directed to MASB consultant Mark Palmer at mark.palmer84@gmail.com. The district is also posting information related to the search on its website.
