FFA Students Recognized for Leadership Achievements

Awards and accolades were in ample supply at the 79th annual Caledonia Chapter Future Farmers of America awards banquet recently held at the High School.

FFA students were recognized for their involvement in career development projects, proficiency awards and leadership achievements as well as community members for their support of the FFA and agriscience.

Lauren Burgess, Katelyn Potter and Courtney Bushart are the recipients of the Star Greenhand Award for first year high school members.

Kaitlynn Harper and Lexi Lieske were chosen as the Mike Newell Outstanding Sophomore and Charlie Crissman Outstanding Junior, respectively.

Alexi Wolf earned the Star in Production Agriculture award for entrepreneurship projects in dairy and swine production as well as the DeKalb Outstanding Senior Agricultural Award.

Andrew Lanser and Jerry Pell were recognized with the Stars in Agribusiness award for their work in the agricultural industry.

Kylie Frahm was chosen as the recipient of the Caledonia Farmers Elevator Award. Kylie plans to pursue post-secondary studies in agriculture.

The Caledonia FFA Alumni and Boosters awarded scholarships for post-secondary education to Jerold Pell in memory of the late Elton Smith; to Alexi Wolf in honor of the Paul South family and to Matthew Rogers in honor of the Wayne Steeby family.

The Washington Leadership Conference scholarship was awarded to Kylie Frahm. The Northern Cross Foundation presented the Al and Jackie Steeby Service Recognition Scholarship to Kylie Frahm and Emily Folkema.

The James Ellis Scholarship was awarded to Jon Hubbell.

The Caledonia Education Foundation Dr. Bill Harrison Endowed Scholarship was awarded to Cameron Hutson and Noelle Cho.

Community members were recognized with an honorary FFA degree for their support of the FFA, agriscience and natural resources education. They included Joseph Marhofer and Caledonia Community Schools Interim Principal Darrell Kingsbury.
