High school students are getting a head start on college with the Health Sciences Early College Academy through the Kent Intermediate School District. The program is open to 11th and 12th grade students from districts throughout Kent County.
Students in the program receive up to a semester’s worth of free college credit from Grand Valley State University or Ferris State University.
Health Sciences Early College Academy ProgramsÂ
- Therapeutic Healthcare Professions – provide direct patient care, treatment, counseling, and health education.
- Diagnostic Healthcare Professions – use tests and evaluations to aid in the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases, injuries, or other physical conditions.
- Biomedical Technology – use a combination of biology, medicine, and technology to improve medical science, medical equipment, and the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions.
The skills students learn in the program translate directly to the professional world. It is a unique opportunity for them to become introduced to a career before they make a commitment to the profession.
