Early Childhood Specialist Named to National Seat

Kathryn O’Hara-Wallis is headed to Florida this winter, but she’s not going as a vacationer.

The early childhood specialist for Kent ISD’s Great Start Readiness Program is one of several educators from across the nation who will serve as liaisons to the National Association for the Education of Young Children’s Young Professional Advisory Council.

“I and others will serve as a voice for the young professionals who are up and coming to better the association for the future,” O’Hara-Wallis said.

The Council’s first conference is in November in Orlando. Monthly meetings thereafter will be held via video chats.

“This is a great resource for me in terms of receiving the latest news in early childhood education,” O’Hara-Wallis said. “It’s a really great career opportunity to connect with people all across the United States.”
