Getting Kids Fired Up About Math

Educators in Cedar Springs have a new equation for teaching kids math. It all adds up to total success in the classroom.

Teachers at Beach Elementary School came together to teach kids how to become mathematical thinkers and problem solvers. They are teaching math through different activities, encouraging kids to get hands on and talk themselves through problems so they understand what they’re doing. The lessons get students up and moving to activate their learning and get them excited about learning.

Students are completing high-level math like adding fractions, multiplying two and three digit numbers, and creating algorithms.

Parents are seeing a difference at home, too. They’re saying their kids want to do their homework and have the confidence and skills to do it.
