Film students document pandemic

Byron Center High School juniors Morgan Westrate and Alayna Arms captured their emotions and what’s going on in the world around them through videos created in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The students, award-winning filmmakers, took different approaches to their pieces. Westrate’s is a mini-documentary, and Alayna’s is a poem in video form. Audiovisual teacher Julie VanderLaan, upon request from School News Network, offered the students the opportunity to create videos.
