Godwin Heights board to interview candidate for superintendent position

Godwin Heights — The Godwin Heights Board of Education will interview one internal candidate for its next superintendent April 28 at 6 p.m. in the collaboration center at the high school, 50 35th St. SW. This interview is open to the public.

The board conducted an internal search and Godwin Heights High School Principal Chad Conklin was the only candidate to apply for the position.

Superintendent Bill Fetterhoff announced last month that he is retiring June 30.

Conklin student taught in the district in 1999 and then the following year was hired as an elementary teacher for North Godwin. He has served as the district’s athletic director and varsity basketball coach. In 2014, he was named the high school principal. He also served as the principal of both the middle and high schools from 2021-2023.

Conklin has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education; an education specialist degree from Central Michigan University; and master’s degrees in education technology and educational leadership, both from Grand Valley State University.

The board is expected to deliberate and make a decision on the superintendent position after the interview.
