New secondary principal an experienced district leader

Godfrey-Lee — After holding several other leadership roles in the district, Julia Bierema is now the secondary principal for Lee Middle and High School and the East Lee Campus, an alternative high school learning environment.

Bierema previously served as East Lee’s site supervisor and then assistant principal, Godfrey-Lee’s district innovation coach and Godfrey Elementary’s secondary instructional coach.

She said she “loves the energy and passion” of the students she works with.

“I am excited to be able to support all of our students and staff throughout our sixth through twelfth grade system,” she said. “I believe we can do great things this year and promoting a sense of community and belonging is key.”

This school year, Bierema said she is looking forward to helping students achieve their goals, celebrating big and small wins and “leaning into promoting belonging through Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports.”

“We want to continually look for ways to improve and use data to inform our decisions. We also have been striving to promote literacy and numeracy using a lens of continuous improvement,” she said. “In the end, we want to do whatever we can to help our students be successful, to know that they matter and that we care about them.
