Education Everywhere — High school seniors and adults returning to school who have worked to improve their communities could now be eligible for a $5,000 scholarship.
The Kent District Library and the KDL Board of Trustees announced the second annual KDL Community Impact Scholarship will be awarded in June 2026. Up to three applicants will be selected for the scholarship.
Funding for the scholarship comes from an award the library won in 2023 from Library Journal for the positive impact that KDL has had on West Michigan communities.
Recipients of the scholarships will be individuals who demonstrate an inclusive mindset, prioritize the interests of the broader community, have a meaningful relationship with their library, and who exhibit innovation through original thinking and creative approaches. Their leadership style should be rooted in empathy, resilience, and a dedication to lifelong learning.
To apply for the scholarship, candidates need to live in the Kent District Library service area and have a valid library card. They should be a high school senior planning on attending college or trade school, or an adult of any age returning to school. KDL employees, board members or immediate family members are not eligible.
Applications are being accepted until March 1.
