Summer music camps keep kids in tune

Education Everywhere — Registration is open for summer music camps at St. Cecilia Music Center in downtown Grand Rapids.

Middle school band camp for seventh- through ninth-grade students who have at least one year of playing experience runs from June 15-19 at the historic center at 24 Ransom Ave. NE. Piano camp, for kids age 7 to 16, runs from July 20-24.

The faculty includes local artists talented in woodwinds, brass and percussion. Students will participate in band rehearsals, sectionals, musical games and performances. At the end of the week, the students will be able to perform in the historic St. Cecilia auditorium.

At piano camp, young pianists will have an engaging and intensive week of activities including private lessons, theory lessons, musical games and music history classes, with lots of time for practice.

To sign up, visit the St. Cecilia Music Center Summer Camps page. Tuition assistance may be available through the Rotary Foundation of Grand Rapids in memory of Chuck and Stella Royce.
