Wyoming — Principal Josh Baumbach, who has led Wyoming High School for the past seven years, is expanding his role as the newly named director of secondary schools.
Baumbach will spread his time between the high school, Wyoming Junior High and the administration building, continuing as WHS principal and leading 7-12 curriculum work.
“This year is really a year to learn about some of those (curriculum-related) processes and what our staff might appreciate, (and) to continue the work forward with our strategic plan,” he said. “The position is an extension of some of the work that I already do as a building principal.”
The district is going through the process of becoming a Professional Learning Community, which Baumbach is involved in. About 60 teachers districtwide have attended the Solution Tree PLC Institute to plan for implementation of the collaborative instruction model.
Baumbach, who has held several other leadership positions in the district, will also work with other administrators on implementing courses, curriculum adjustments and reviewing grant expenditures to support students and staff.
“I’m excited to learn from our staff and come alongside and support them — to see the great work that is happening across the district, 7-12,” he said.
“One of my roles as building principal is looking at what barriers can I take down or how can I help ensure that you can do the great work that you need to do. I still think that is applicable in this new position as well.”
