Three Districts Seek Community Support in May 3 Election

Grandville Public Schools

REQUEST: A 10-year renewal of the district’s sinking fund millage, which funds repairs and maintenance of school facilities.

COST: The 1.4 mill renewal would not increase the property tax rate. The owner of a home with a taxable value of $75,000 would continue to pay $105 a year.

Kenowa Hills Public Schools

REQUEST: A $55.24 million bond issue over five years to replace aging equipment, upgrade facilities, update/expand technology and increase safety. Includes an eight-classroom addition, new boilers and hot water heaters, re-surfacing roofs, remodeled entranceways, two gymnasiums, district-wide technology upgrades.

COST: An increase of approximately .99 mills, costing the owner of a $100,000 home about $49.50 per year.

Sparta Area Schools

REQUEST: A $58 million bond issue to be spent over seven years for security, technology and building upgrades. Includes a new middle school, renovated early childhood classrooms, new ballfields and stadium, classroom technology, remodeled entryways and district-wide facility upgrades.

COST: An increase of approximately 1.35 mills, costing the owner of a $100,000 home about $67 per year.
