District launches updated website

Grand RapidsAn extensively updated GRPS.org represents the district’s 44 schools with easy-to-navigate information, photos, videos, video tours and news, said the district’s communications coordinator.

“It looks great; it feels great. It’s the now – something we have been needing for a long time,” said Javier Cervantes, while describing plans to have videos specific to every school – such as this one –  on individual pages.

Developed by webmaster Kaitlyn Califf, the site offers online enrollment and an “attendance area finder,” for finding neighborhood schools within the boundaries of one’s home address. The home page consists of big, crisp photos, district news and a calendar of events.

There are links to job openings, departments, fine arts, athletics, transportation, and to the district’s system for parents to access grades and schedules.

The site can also be translated into 30 different languages and is ADA compliant.

Cervantes said updating the site was needed to best showcase the district and students. “We are ready to show the world what we are because one day our scholars are taking over the world.”
