Kent County teen service group seeks applications

All districts — Wedgwood Christian Services’ TeenCHARGE is accepting applications through June 5 for its advisory board in the Kent County leadership and service group.

Now in its sixth year, TeenCHARGE — Teens Choosing Action Reaching Their Generation — is open to any student between the ages of 13-18.

The program helps students build leadership and teamwork skills as the group plans and carries out service projects. TeenCHARGE participants also act as the “teen voice” of Wedgwood, providing feedback about the issues teens are facing and what they need to be successful.

One of the projects the group has worked on is Wedgwood’s annual State of the Child conference, which brings together community experts, educators and leaders to discuss pressing youth mental health issues. At this year’s February event, students greeted participants and demonstrated a play therapy session.

Upcoming service projects include cleaning the garden area at the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry on April 16 and helping with John Ball Zoo’s Wild Strides 5K on April 21. Students may volunteer in any TeenCHARGE service projects without being a member of the advisory board.

To apply or request more information, email teencharge@wedgwood.org.
