Empowering students to get interested in STEAM

East Grand Rapids — The district’s first-ever Community STEAM night showcased the science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics talents of students in grades 6-12.

The science-fair-style event, which took place at East Grand Rapids High School, featured displays and presentations from the middle-school and high-school robotics and Science Olympiad teams, the high school’s Gone Boarding, theater tech, photography and pottery classes, and more.

Partner organizations also attended, including John Ball Zoo, Array of Engineers, Atomic Object, Gordon Food Services and BAMF Health, to name a few.

The purpose of the evening was to expose elementary-level students to all the STEAM-related classes, clubs and activities that await them at the middle- and high-school level.
