Kent ISD — Kent Career Technical Center Advanced Culinary students were recently tested on sanitation, knife cutting, time-management, multitasking and other skills as they cooked and presented salads and entrées for visiting chefs.
Over the course of an hour and 45 minutes, students set up and prepped before presenting their two-course meals, including chicken and salad, to judges and parents.
The practical examination provided the opportunity for students to earn the Certified Fundamentals Cook Certification from the American Culinary Federation. The state-recognized credential prepares them for work in the culinary field.
Watch the video above to hear more about the process from instructors and students.
