Grand Rapids — Two Grand Rapids Public Schools students are among the finalists in the Michigan Secretary of State’s “I Voted” sticker contest.
The statewide contest invites students to submit design ideas for the stickers election clerks will hand out to voters after ballots are cast in the upcoming November election.
Lucinda Sisson and Clara Guest, both seniors at City High Middle School, submitted designs for this year’s contest, and their entries are among the top 30 in the high school division of the competition.
Lucinda’s design depicts three fish swimming in front of an American flag with the words “I voted” floating around them, while Clara’s design features a beaver clutching a newly punched ballot.
The sticker competition, which started in 2024, has categories for elementary/middle-school students and high-schoolers, as well as an all-ages general design bracket. Through an online voting portal, available here, the public can select up to three favorite designs in each category.
Voting will remain open until 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, June 30. Winners will be announced sometime this summer.
According to the Secretary of State’s office, this year’s contest received more than 2,000 submissions, which were narrowed down to 30 finalists in each category by the Michigan Collegiate Student Advisory Task Force.
