Gaining hands-on automotive experience, certifications

At the Weller Auto Tech Center, students learn how to properly balance tires, how to remove and rebuild a vehicle’s transmission, and much more

Grandville — The new Weller Auto Tech Center at Grandville High School, which opened in January, is more than a lab. It’s a fully functional automotive repair facility where students get real-world, hands-on experience and can earn certifications on their way to becoming full-fledged auto technicians. Taught by certified Grandville instructors, students learn everything from how to properly balance tires to how to remove and rebuild a vehicle’s transmission.

GHS students took our videographer on a tour of the facility; come along as they show off the state-of-the-art machinery and demonstrate the skills they’re mastering.

Explore more unique video stories of students learning, interesting school programs and educators working to help all children succeed.
