‘11 on a scale of 1-10’

Recognizing character through Alpha Wolf 11

Wyoming — In the words of Wyoming High School alumnus Lanieva Robinson, “Your character is a lot and people notice it, even when you think they don’t.”

Students, staff, administrators and community members recently celebrated 11 years of recognizing character through the Alpha Wolf 11 program, which awards students as being “11 on a scale of 1-10,” said Superintendent Craig Hoekstra.

Each semester, eight students are honored to receive the AW11 Champion of Character award based on the traits of kindness, compassion and graciousness. Students in grades 9 through 12 each vote for two of their peers to be AW11 recipients.

The event also honored the life of Ryan Fischer, a Grandville High School student who died in 2014. Fischer served as inspiration for Alpha Wolf 11.
